Heidi Shierholz is the president of the Economic Policy Institute, a nonprofit, nonpartisan think tank that uses the power of its research on economic trends and on the impact of economic policies to advance reforms that serve working people, deliver racial justice, and guarantee gender equity. In 2021 she became the fourth president EPI has had since its founding in 1986. Shierholz served as EPI policy director from 2017 –21, and as chief economist at the Dept. of Labor from 2014 – 17 under President Obama. Before joining EPI in 2007, she was an assistant professor of economics at the University of Toronto. She holds a PhD in economics from the University of Michigan. Follow her on Twitter @hshierholz.
