Leslie Cagan

Leslie Cagan has been an organizer in peace, justice and socialist movements for decades. From the Vietnam war to racism at home, nuclear disarmament to lesbian/gay liberation, fighting sexism to working against U.S. military intervention, from support of Palestinian rights to police brutality to normalizing relations with Cuba, she’s been a central organizer in many struggles. She was national coordinator of United for Peace and Justice and a co-chair of Committees of Correspondence for Democracy and Socialism. Her organizing skills have mobilized countless people in many of the nation’s largest demonstrations and hundreds of other events, including the June 12, 1982 Rally for Nuclear Disarmament, when one million people marched; the 1987 LGBTQ rights march on Washington; mobilizations against the Iraq War; and the 2014 People’s Climate March.
