Liz Perlman
Liz Perlman has been the executive director of AFSCME 3299—the University of California’s largest employee union, representing more than 25,000 service and patient care technical workers–since 2011. She has been involved in the labor movement for the past 20 years, leading campaigns for several different unions, including SEIU, UNITE HERE and AFSCME. During her tenure, Liz has worked to transform the local into a powerhouse union–waging a historic contract fight in 2014, linking the local’s work with campaigns for economic, housing, and education justice across California, and waging a four-year campaign to stop the outsourcing of university jobs that has led to precedent-setting gains for low-wage workers of color. Liz believes in centering workers in strategy and tactics to build power. Liz also serves on the University of California Berkeley Labor Advisory Board, and has been involved in the Bargaining For Common Good movement since its inception.
