Adrienne Williams is a Research Fellow at the Distributed AI Research Institute (DAIR) and Just Tech. She began organizing while teaching at a tech-operated charter school where she noticed the physical, emotional, and educational harms that came from the false narrative around “personalized learning.” She then worked as an Amazon delivery driver, where she immediately witnessed similar harms caused by surveillance, inattention to safety laws, and a lack of transparency around technology. From there she became a labor organizer and tech researcher. Her goal is to level the playing field for people through actionable regulations around AI, technology, and monopolies, and to end the exploitation, forced labor, and poverty inflicted on our most vulnerable communities.
